ST Johnstone boss Derek McInnes has again insisted tonight that he has had no contact with Burnley over their vacant managerial position.

McInnes led St Johnstone to a surprise 1-0 Scottish Cup win at Hearts tonight.

And, after refusing to take questions about links to the Clarets in the lead-up to the game, he was asked about Burnley after the final whistle.

The Scot is thought to have been on the shortlist to replace Brian Laws as boss, with a number of other targets having since either decided to stay at their current clubs or move elswhere.

It remains to be seen whether an approach will come now that the Scottish Cup game is out of the way.

Keeping caretaker boss Stuart Gray in charge for a longer period is also likely to be among Burnley's options.

"I've had no contact from Burnley and I don't think my chairman has," McInnes said tonight.

"I think I've got such a good relationship with him that I think I'd be the first to know if there was.

"I've heard the same reports, with journalists and people phoning me up, but no contact at all."

Asked if he was flattered by the links, he said: "I think it's testament to what we're doing here but there are a lot of good managers out of work at the moment.

"So who knows? I'm happy with the job I'm doing, all I've ever tried to do is improved things at St Johnstone and I will continue to do that."
