JAY Harris has yet to officially complete his switch to Accrington Stanley, but the teenager already has designs on a first team place.

The former Everton trainee scored the winner against Blackpool in Wednesday night's friendly at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, just days after agreeing a 12-month contract.

And Harris is keen to stay in-form in a bid to win a spot in manager John Coleman's starting line-up when the season kicks off at Chester City next Saturday.

"I was over the moon when it went in.

"It's probably the best goal I've scored," said Harris, who made his first appearance for the Reds in the end of season friendly at Clitheroe earlier this year.

"It's the perfect start for me. I like to score and hopefully I can get a few more as the season progresses.

"Hopefully I'll be selected in the side (next week) and be able to make an impact on the game."

Even though Coleman has already dubbed Harris the next Anthony Barry, the Scouser knows he will have his work cut out if he is to make that breakthrough.

"There aren't just a lot of players here at the minute, they're quality players as well," he said.
