THE latest signing for the Accrington Stanley fan club has been announced, as a world leader joined the team's global group of supporters.
Maltese Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi was presented with a personalised iconic red and white football shirt by the team's sponsors Fraser Eagle, after he opened their new Malta-based control centre.
The UK passenger transport group also presented Dr Gonzi with a limited-edition Corgi model of a Fraser Eagle coach and a piece of commemorative glassware.
Kevin Dean, Fraser Eagle's group managing director, said: "In Maltese culture blessing a new building is very important.
"So we were delighted when the Maltese Prime Minister agreed to inaugurate our state-of-the-art Malta control centre.
"We wanted to thank him by giving him something from East Lancashire.
"And as the main sponsor of Accrington Stanley we thought the new shirt would be a fitting gift."
