TABLE toppers East Lancs are primed for a big battle tomorrow – and know they can’t take anything for granted against basement boys Colne.
Mark Bolton’s outfit took over at the summit of the Lancashire League thanks to their resoun-ding win over Haslindgen last Sunday and will again look to sub-pro Brenton Parchment for a big display.
The former West Indian Test man hit a half-century and then took eight wickets at Bentgate and his clash with Colne’s paid man Anwar Ali promises to be special.
Colne beat East Lancs in the Worsley Cup and Bolton wants his men to reach their peak of performance.
“We can’t afford to turn up with a World Cup hangover,” said Bolton.
“We know all about Colne. They are not a bottom of the table side by any stretch.
“Anwar Ali is a fine professional and they have some good amateurs and we will have to play well to win.”
Colne struggled until the arrival of Ali and player-coach Gary Hunt said: “We haven’t been playing that badly but now we have Anwar here we can kick-on.”
