YOUNG golfers from Fearns Community Sports College put a par-fect performance proving they are a cut above the rest.
Year eight student Martyn Taylor and Jordan Young, from year nine, took part in the Lancashire School’s Golf Association contest at Darwen Golf Club for the first time and won the team trophy.
They also performed well in the individual contest with Taylor joint second and Young joint third.
Novice golfer 12 year-old Taylor only took up the sport less than a year ago as his grandparents and uncle work at Rossendale Golf Club where Young and his dad Tim are also members.
“I was spending a lot of time at the golf course so I decided I may as well have a go, I now play a couple of round every day,” said Taylor “I didn’t expect to win, as I was new to the course, but it was fair easy.”
Young, 13, said: “This was the first time I have played in the school’s competition and I am delighted with how well we did representing Fearns.”
