EAST Lancashire super-bike legend Carl Fogarty has been hailed as one of England’s all-time sporting greats.

Foggy is one of the legends starring in a new television advert launched ahead of this summer’s football World Cup.

The promo for official England sponsors Carlsberg has been hailed as one of the year’s top adverts and it features former footballers Jack Charlton, Sir Trevor Brooking and Stuart Pearce.

Other English stars featuring alongside Foggy include Sir Ian Botham, boxer Nigel Benn and adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

The advert, which premiered at the weekend, sees the England team emerging from a team talk down a tunnel lined with sporting greats urging the players on.

Along with Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Clive Woodward and Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor they deliver ‘probably the best team talk in the world…’ to the England football team.

Foggy is seen passing the players in the tunnel and he fixes them with his trademark steely stare before going on to perform a burn-out on his Ducati superbike as the pre-match emotion reaches fever pitch.

He said: “It was great to be asked by Carlsberg to appear in their ad and nice to be recognised as one of the English sporting greats.

“I think it’s – probably – the best commercial in the world!

“I’m a big fan of the England football team and hopefully this might inspire them to go on and win the World Cup.”

The ad was produced by Saatchi & Saatchi and was filmed The New Den, the home of Millwall FC.
