BURNLEY'S European dream is over after England today lost their right to a fair play place for next season.

The Clarets had been in with a good chance of a place in the Europa League after being well-placed in the Premier League's fair play table, but that was dependent on England remaining among the top three in the European fair play league.

England had been in third place when the previous table was published at the end of 2009 but they have slipped to seventh in the final standings published by UEFA today.

Sweden, Denmark and Finland will each be awarded a fair play place in the first qualifying round of the Europa League on July 1.

The news ends any chance of Burnley qualifying for Europe. It also means Fulham, who had also been contenders for the English fair play place, must now beat Atletico Madrid in this season's Europa League final on Wednesday to qualify for next season's competition as holders.
