Burnley return to pre-season training today, in preparation for their Championship campaign which kicks off on August 5 at home to QPR.

The Clarets will look for a bright opening to the season and big improvement on 12 months ago, when they won just one of their opening 10 league encounters.

Manager Steve Cotterill admits he learnt from last season's experience and, after analysing where it could have gone wrong, is hoping the Clarets' fortunes change this time around.

He added: "I've learned a couple of things from our start last season.

"I have analysed the reason and looked into it quite in-depth.

"If that is the case, then it's in my hands to change it for this season.

"If we do get a good start, then maybe the theory that I've thought about in these summer months was right.

"But until the start of the season, I won't know."
