BLACKBURN Rovers went in at the break level at Aston Villa thanks largely to the efforts of Paul Robinson.

Robinson produced a string of stops to keep Villa at bay, with James Collins being denied twice.

Teenage defender Grant Hanley was lively on his senior Rovers debut, blocking a shot from John Carew and seeing a header go wide at the other end.

Hanley attempted to make his presence felt in the opposition’s area, rising to connect David Dunn’s corner but sending his downward header go wide.

Robinson parried a fierce drive from Collins, but Gabriel Agbonlahor was unable to take advantage.

Robinson then pushed away Milner’s free-kick from 25 yards after Dunn had brought down Young and was on hand again to collect Agbonlahor’s close-range header.
