DAVE Holden's bid for the Ace of Aintree sidecar championship moved up a gear with victory in the second round of the series.
Holden and passenger Dick Jacques were in a class of their own at the Merseyside track, seeing off a strong field of sidecar racers in the seven-lap race.
Although the reigning EMRA champion Holden was forced to miss the opening round, he is currently lying second overall in the standings.
It's going well, now that we have got our outfit free of niggling little problems,'' said Holden.
The Great Harwood racer changed machines this year in a bid to win the series, switching to a long-wheelbase LCR used by Swiss sidecar legend Rolf Biland to win the 1983 World Championship.
Holden is also contesting selected EMRA - East Midland Racing Association - meetings. He grabbed a fine second place at the latest round at Mallory Park. Sponsorship comes from CMS of Whitebirk, Blackburn; THG Motor Bodies, Longridge, and Silkolene Oils.
