ACCRINGTON Stanley chairman Eric Whalley has warned Yeovil he's not prepared to let Gary Roberts leave on the cheap after he rejected a second offer for the Reds' star winger.

Yeovil manager Russell Slade is desperate to sign the 22-year-old flyer and he has tabled two separate offers for the player within the last seven days - the latest worth £50,000.

However, Whalley insists he will only allow Roberts to join the League One side if Stanley are properly compensated' for a player who set the Conference alight last season.

"The ball's in their court," said Whalley.

"We've told Yeovil what we want for Gary so it's up to them now; they either put up or shut up.

"The player has told us he wants to go but that will only happen if we are properly compensated."

Roberts was one of Stanley's leading lights last season, the former Liverpool trainee scoring 13 goals to help fire the club to the Conference title and a place in League Two.

Yeovil tabled an initial bid of £20,000 for the speedy wide-man last week, which was immediately rejected, and a second improved offer received a similar response.

Stanley are believed to be holding out for a six-figure sum.
