AMINE Linganzi looks set to be the latest Blackburn Rovers starlet to be handed his Premier League debut tomorrow, as Sam Allardyce gives youth development the priority over cash.

The Congolese born Algerian midfielder arrived at Ewood Park in January for a nominal fee from French outfit St Etienne and will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Rovers’ fabulous five in tomorrow’s season finale at Villa Park.

Young guns Martin Olsson, Steven Nzonzi, Nikola Kalinic, Phil Jones and Junior Hoilett have already given the club huge hope for the future with their Premier League performances, and 20-year-old Linganzi is now believed to be the next on the conveyor belt.

Rovers boss Allardyce is well aware of the prize money at stake as they bid for a 10th place finish, with £750,000 up for grabs for every position, but insists planning for next season has to be higher on his agenda.

Allardyce refused to confirm which player he was giving a debut to but Linganzi is believed to be player in question.

He said: “It is a staggering amount of money that could be riding on the game, depending on the other results.

"It is a significant amount of money obviously but the other side of that is there is a huge amount of need for players to play.

“Certainly one player will play who has had limited experience if no experience at all.

"It is a necessary need to test at least one of our players who looks like he might be good enough.

“I don’t think it is going to weaken the side too much but it is going to give someone the chance to play football just to see where he is at.

“We think he is ready and based on this year’s experience they haven’t failed to impress, the players who have made their debuts right from day one.

“We have had a fantastic run of newcomers who can play at that level and it is time to see if we can try one more. I think he is ready. You can all guess who that is.”

While Allardyce accepts the ‘extra money’ would come in handy this summer, he believes giving Linganzi his first senior appearance could prove more valuable for the future.

He also insists the powerful midfielder is ready for his big chance and believes the team he fields tomorrow afternoon has every chance of finishing the season in style.

“I am not so sure what the extra money is going to get me,” said Allardyce.

“It isn’t going to get me a lot is it? That’s for sure.

“The price of players is very, very expensive so it is better keeping improving the young players we have got than playing the old players to get the extra money.

“Whatever team we play though it could be good enough to get a result.

"The rest of the team will be the strongest we have got.

"We play Aston Villa at Villa Park and it will be tough. They have beaten us three times this season.

“It will be very difficult for us to win but you never know with your last game of the season.

"There isn’t a great deal of tension, even though people talk about the money.”
