STEVE Cotterill admits he's got an idea of his starting line-up for Burnley's opening Championship clash against QPR.

The Clarets get their league campaign underway against Rangers at Turf Moor on Saturday, August 5, followed by away trips to Leicester City on August 8 and Sheffield Wednesday four days later.

Manager Cotterill has already outlined his wish for a strong start to the 2006/07 term and to avoid a repeat of 12 months ago, when Burnley collected just one win from their first 10 league outings.

And with less than six weeks to go before Gary Waddock brings his Rangers side to East Lancashire for the opening day showdown, Cotterill is already thinking of his starting line-up.

"I have an idea in my head on what could be the starting line-up for the first game of the season," said Cotterill "I think most managers would have their thoughts on what would be their starting XI.

"But we've got all the pre-season games to play and there are potential injuries to take into consideration. Plus we've got new players bedding in.

"So it's up to those 11 players that are in my mind to re-inforce my way of thinking, and also up to those others to perhaps change my mind."

Cotterill added: "I'm just looking for a good start, because last year was a bad start and it ended up being a difficult season.

"If we can have a good start and repeat the middle bit of last year, then it makes it more enjoyable towards the end of the season."
