Blackburn Rovers dented the title hopes of Manchester United, with a draw at Ewood Park.

The hosts are now unbeaten in five, after proving to be more than a match for the Red Devils.

In a fairly uneventful first half, Chris Samba had the hosts best chance.

His header though, from a Vince Grella cross, was well saved by Edwin Van Der Sar.

It was United however who enjoyed the better of it, but couldn't turn pressure into shots.

The Rovers defence more than dealt with the threat, until Antonio Valencia was played in with only two minutes of the half left.

The Ecuadorian though was foiled by Paul Robinson, who kept the scores level at the break.

Similarly to the first half, the second started with the defences on top.

Both sides enjoyed their share of possession, but neither 'keeper was being tested.

Just after the hour mark half chances fell to the visitors, but neither threatened Robinson.

Firstly Dimitar Berbatov saw his shot blocked, before Darron Gibson fired wide.

Following this United began to play a significant part of the game in the Rovers half, with the hosts restricted to trying to counter.

But a penalty claim aside, they didn't have anything to show for it as the Blackburn defence held firm.

In the 80th minute, a well worked move should've been finished off by Berbatov.

Paul Scholes' pass was headed to the Bulgarian by Gary Neville, but his shot from the edge of the box was straight at Robinson.

With two minutes left Rovers a good chance to go ahead.

El-Hadji Diouf played in Steven Nzonzi, but his shot was blocked.

The half drifted away with no more real clear cut chances, and it finished 0-0.
