Accrington Stanley's chairman Eric Whalley believes the club's new record sponsorship deal will stand them in good stead for their step up into the Football League.

The Reds expect to earn at least three quarters of a million pound should the stadium and shirt deal with Fraser Eagel run its combined course.

And Whalley is confident that whatever the club needs whether it be new signings or ground improvements will be funded.

"All the money goes into one big pot for the club," he said.

"The management will be after it, but it isn't assigned for anything specific. That's not really how we do things.

"Whatever we need we will find the money for hopefully.

"If we've ever needed anything we've always managed to find the funding.

"It's not been a problem in the past, and hopefully that won't change.

"Whatever needs doing we'll aim to get it done."

As well as setting up new signings for their assault on League Two, one of the first things on Stanley's agenda is to re-seed the pitch.

Work is due to start on that early next week, while projects continue around the ground to bring it up to Football League standard ahead of a vote by the League on June 7, when Whalley anticipates the Reds' League Two status will be confirmed.

"We've got the inspectors in next Wednesday to assess the work that's being done.

"A lot of things are ongoing but I'm confident there won't be any problems," he said.
