ACCRINGTON Stanley are appealing for volunteers to improve security and safety as they make the step up to the Football League.

The club needs to recruit around 60 new stewards, aged between 18 and 55, as soon as possible so they are fully trained for the start of the new season in August.

Each volunteer will be trained to NVQ Level 2 in Stewards and Spectator Control by the In Company' team at Telford College of Arts and Technology a nationally recognised City and Guilds qualification and will receive an official FA Stewards card, as well as working towards the new FA Steward training at levels bronze, silver and gold.

Stanley safety officer Mick Schultz said: "Many changes are taking place for us to be able to compete in the Football League. One of these is of course the health and safety of both home and away fans."

Anyone interested in becoming a steward for next season should contact Mick at the club on 01254 356950 or e-mail him directly at mick.schultz@accringtonstanley.co.uk
