BURNLEY striker Ade Akinbiyi says he's interested in points not prizes as he prepares to face off against one the league's sharp-shooters.

Akinbiyi will go head-to-head with Cardiff's Cameron Jerome with both strikers, and Watford's Marlon King, locked together on 12 goals in the race for the Championship's Golden Boot.

But Akinbiyi said he's more interested in winning games rather than personal glory as the Clarets aim for the play-offs.

He said: "I'm not even thinking about the golden boot. I'm just going down there and see if the team can do well. If I get on the score sheet I do, if I don't I don't.

"I'm not bothered about winning the Golden Boot - I just want to get my goals because that's my job.

"I'm obviously delighted so far. I wanted to get 15 before Christmas but unfortunately I only got 14, 12 of those in the league, but Im delighted with that and hopefully I can continue from there."

Burnley are without a win in their last four league and cup games and currently lie eighth in the Championship table.

And Akinbiyi admitted that he and his team-mates will be aiming high for the rest of the season - despite the Clarets squad being one of the smallest in the Championship.

He said: "The play-offs must be what we're pushing for now. We've got this far so why not push for the play-offs?

"We've probably got the smallest squad in the Championship so obviously the manager has done well and we'll have to manage with what we've got.

"We all believe in ourselves and the team and we've got to try and stay injury free because we know we've not got a lot of players to work with.

"If you haven't got belief then there's no point walking out onto the pitch. We have to believe in ourselves and that's what's keeping us going."
