PADIHAM boss Graham Haworth is confident of guiding his side to a dream double over Congleton in the Vodkat Premier Division tomorrow.

The Storks boss labelled his side's 1-0 victory over the Cheshire outfit prior to Christmas as one of their best results of the season.

On that occasion, a defensive display from Padiham was the order of the day and Howarth knows a bolder approach may be required at the Arbories.

“We went down there with the intention of frustrating them and it was a gameplan that worked well on the day. It was a great result – probably our best of the season.

“Now we’re at home, there’s more of an emphasis on getting on the front foot and playing our normal way.”

The Storks are due to play more than half their games from now until the end of the season due to a series of weather-affected postponements this winter.

But with an intense fixture schedule on the horizon, Howarth insists he will give opportunities for everyone in his squad to impress.

“There’s a lot of young lads doing well for our reserves, and there’s a few on the fringes of things,” he said. “They will all get a chance at some point and its up to them to take up the challenge.

“We’re in mid-table at the moment, but if we win our games in hand, we could get into the top five.

“There’s a long way to go, but our goal is to be the best club in our area in this division.”

Padiham have bolstered their ranks by signing Clitheroe’s Robert Grimes and defender Paul Haworth from Leigh Genesis.

Haworth spent four years at Shrewsbury and a further five years at Accrington Stanley earlier in his career.
