CLITHEROE chairman Carl Garner has likened new signing Konstantin Televinov to Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo as the Blues look to parade their winger against Radcliffe Borough tomorrow.

The Estonian winger had been playing Sunday League football in Preston before impressing the Blues during a trial at Shawbridge.

Two years ago, Konstantin was playing for JK Tallinn Kalev in the Estonian top flight.

“We really like the look of him,” said Garner. “He’s a bit of throwback to the winger who likes taking his defender using his tricks and skills.

“I can only really liken him to Ronaldo. There’s not many players like him at our level of football.”

Garner added: “We got a tip-off that Konstantin was playing Sunday League football in Preston and we invited him for a trial.

“He’s only been in the country a couple of years and speaks broken English, but he’s got plenty of ability and played to a good standard of football back in Estonia.”

Televinov is set to be handed his debut tomorrow and could be the latest name at Clitheroe to come under the glare of scouts flocking to Shawbridge.

Former Celtic striker Nathan Taylor is being watched by a handful of Football League clubs after a fantastic debut season in East Lancashire.

The 19-year-old has bagged 16 goals in his club’s last 21 games, including Clitheroe’s only goal in their 2-1 midweek defeat at league leaders Lancaster City.

Wales Under 19 goalkeeper Danny Hanford has also earned rave reviews after joining from Rochdale.

“Nathan has been sensational,” said Garner. “It is unprecedented for us to have a striker who was previously at Celtic, but we’re so glad he’s with us.

Meanwhile, the Blues have landed another transfer coup with the return of left-back Simon Garner, who has enjoyed stints with Stalybridge Celtic and FC United.
