BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce says there is no rush in sorting out Morten Gamst Pedersen’s long term future after revealing Rovers had received no official interest for the resurgent Norwegian midfielder.

Pedersen is enjoying a new lease of life since being moved into a more central role and, with his contract expiring this summer, Allardyce revealed talks were continuing to prolong his Rovers’ stay.

Allardyce said: “Aye, I think we can keep him. There is no reason for us to do anything with him at this stage, unless he pops up with someone who has come in from abroad and offers him a pre-contract deal.

“But we would have heard about that by now if that was the case and I think we would try and continue to talk to him regarding a new contract.

“We have moved him in one and not put him out wide, because we have changed our system a little bit.

"Because we have moved him in one in a three, he gets more of the ball, he has become more active and doesn’t have to be quite as quick as you do in a wide position.

“Moving him in one has brought the best out of him.

"He was very, very good at Aston Villa as well and he is finding his quality in the final third.

"We are all seeing him come to where we know he can be and where he has been before and he proved that against Wigan.”
