PAUL Robinson is determined to help Rovers make the most of their second chance after claiming the next six games will ‘make or break’ their season.

The Blackburn Rovers stopper sees Wednesday’s Premier League visit of Fulham as the start to a crucial run of fixtures – knowing they have already wasted one golden opportunity to all-but secure top flight safety.

Sam Allardyce’s men will be satisfied with their current 12th spot in the league table, five points clear of the drop zone, but will also know it should be so much better.

Just three points were won from a winnable run of five fixtures of December and, now with a similar prospect ahead, Robinson knows they can’t afford to pass up on the opportunity.

He said: “We need to pick up points the next five or six games.

"They will really shape our season. They will show whether we are going to be fighting relegation again or sitting mid table and looking at a top half finish.

”We have important home games coming up and big away games as well.

”Realistically we have to be looking at taking something from all of those games.

"Football doesn’t always work out like that but we will be looking to take as many points as we possibly can.”

A 2-0 home win over Fulham a little more than a week ago at least ended a run of Premier League matches without a win for Rovers.

The gallant midweek semi final defeat at the hands of Aston Villa has lifted the mood of what was an increasingly anxious Ewood Park crowd and Robinson has stressed the importance of focusing on the future.

He said: “We looked at the fixtures over Christmas and it obviously hasn’t gone as well as we hoped it would go.

“But you look ahead rather than back, because you can’t change what has gone on and we are looking at the next run games as a real chance to pick up points.“
