CHRIS Samba is confident his best is yet to come as he looks forward to a brighter future at Ewood Park.

The giant defender is hoping to celebrate extending his contract at Rovers until 2014 by ending their 10-match losing away streak at Bolton tomorrow.

Samba signed his new Rovers deal on Tuesday, as he continues to offer good returns from his £400,000 arrival from Hertha Berlin, and is now determined to help Sam Allardyce’s men move up the Premier League table.

He said: “I can still get better, of course I can. I am only 25 and you see players aged 32 still getting better. Until the end of my career I don’t know how good I can get.

“I am happy the contract has been signed and I can concentrate on playing again. It has been long discussions but both sides are happy and we will continue to work together.

“It is nice to feel an important member of the squad but I will keep playing my game and not really think about it. I have to continue playing well and prove that I am important.

“Who knows if I will finish my career here. Every player has dreams of big teams, that is not out of mind. I am still ambitious and trying to go the best way I can.”

While Rovers away record remains dismal, Samba points to their form at the Reebok in recent seasons as reasons for optimism.

Rovers are unbeaten in their last 10 trips to Bolton and Samba is confident the run can continue.

He said: “We have a good record at Bolton. Hopefully we can continue that and give ourselves a boost for the next game.

“Last year we had difficulty to get a result out of Ewood, this season has been the same but we keep working on why and what we should come back to.

“I am not worried and as soon as we get one I am sure many more are going to come. We now have the possibility to go really high up the table, starting with a win on Sunday.

“I don’t know where we can finish. We have the objective to be the highest possible.

“Every week we speak about difficult games but it is true every game is difficult. All games are different. we know bolton will be a physical game. we can deal with that.”

Samba’s centre back partner Ryan Nelsen has hailed the extended capture of the Congo international and insists the new deal is very much deserved.

He said: “It is unbelievable, it is fantastic for the big man. He has been brilliant since he has been here.

"He came for nothing and has provided fantastic service and fantastic performances.

“It is up to Chris what he does from here. He has all the qualities to play at the very top.

"If he keeps performing like this, things will happen, but I’m just glad he is here. ”
