CHRIS Samba will be travelling to Old Trafford full of belief after insisting Rovers’ away day misery has to be left ‘in the past’.

Blackburn Rovers’ giant centre back is hoping to return to the side for tomorrow evening’s daunting match at Manchester United having shaken off the dreaded swine flu.

Samba revealed how the virus, which has affected four others at Ewood Park over the last seven days, left him bed-ridden for a few days and saw him shed several pounds off his target weight.

But, now back in training, Rovers’ African defender is hoping to be able to play his part in ending the club’s nine match losing streak away from home.

He said: “Every time I go out on the pitch I believe.

"If I don’t believe I don’t go out on the pitch, so every game you believe and hope that you have a good result.

“Whatever Manchester United have does not matter, it is about Blackburn Rovers as a team and us as individuals.

"Every game is new – the past does not matter.

“I missed the game last season at Old Trafford when we were unlucky.

"That showed we can upset teams though. We made it difficult for them.

"This is a new game and we just have to do the right things and not just wait and see what happens.”

Fellow swine flu sufferer David Dunn is also back available for selection with the virus looking like being under control at Ewood Park.

Boss Sam Allardyce has been suffering with a virus over the last couple of days, believed not to be swine flu, but he should only be missing Vince Grella and Steven Nzonzi for Saturday’s trip.

He said: “I don’t know if it was the same for everybody but for me it was pretty bad. I had to stay in bed for a few days but now it is better and I am back to work.

“I don’t know if I will be ready for the weekend but I am doing everything I can.”
