GOALKEEPER Brian Jensen has already had a big hand in some key moments this season – but he’s hoping to save the best yet until Sunday.

Stopping Michael Carrick’s penalty earned a precious clean sheet against Manchester United to begin Burnley’s record-breaking unbeaten home run in the Premier League.

He followed that up with another Turf Moor shut-out against Everton, while contributions in further wins over Sunderland and Birmingham helped the Clarets become the only newly promoted team to win their first four Premier League home games.

But getting that elusive first away goal, and point – or points – is the next hurdle Jensen and Co desperately want to clear.

And if it happens this weekend, so much the better as far as the 34-year-old in particular is concerned.

For the Danish former West Brom stopper is desperate to banish the FA Cup demons that have haunted him for more than four years, in what will be his 250th appearance for Burnley, and 300th game in English football.

“It’s probably one of my biggest disappointments,” said Jensen of Morten Gamst Pedersen’s late winner in the last East Lancashire derby.

The two teams were drawn together at the fifth round stage of the FA Cup.

A goalless encounter at Turf Moor led to a re-match at Ewood Park, where the two teams go head-to-head once more on Sunday.

Not getting the chance to at least earn extra time on the night, after Micah Hyde had cancelled out Tugay’s opener before the break, came as a devastating blow that has lived with Jensen to this day.

“We were so unlucky. To concede a goal that late in the game, it’s not nice,” he said.

“They were two brilliant games, and we were so close to extra-time and penalties.

“The stakes are a little bit different now so it’s going to be even more tough and more fun.”

But Burnley’s longest-serving current player has warned the Lancashire derby is not for the faint-hearted.

“It’s hostile. The fans don’t like each other and make it known verbally,” he said.

“The atmospheres are good, and this will probably be the best so far.

“But when it comes down to it, it’s just football, and it’s nice to be involved in those games.

"I’m looking forward to it, and fingers crossed we can turn it around and score a late goal against them.”
