workERS at neighbouring firms have been wearing Blackburn and Burnley shirts to work ahead of the big derby.

And the mix of Rovers and Clarets supporters at Northern Industrial Electronics and Fairham Mouldings both at Glenfield Industrial Park, off Philips Road, Blackburn, have been enjoying the banter ahead of Sunday’s big match.

In fact, staff at the firm said the mickey-taking fun had been ongoing ever since the fixtures came out early in the summer.

Rovers fans at Northern Industrial Electronics have even put up their team’s flag in the office workshop.

And they have vowed to cover the office with flags, shirts and scarves if Blackburn win.

Lifelong Rovers fan Chris Lenehan, 25, who works for Northern Industrial Electronics, said: “I think that we will win 3-0 with David Dunn scoring at least one goal.

“Even though I’m a Rovers fan I think it is great that Burnley are in the Premiership. It’s good for East Lancashire and good for banter in the office.”

Adam Fothergill, 22, a Burnley supporter from Brierfield, who works for Northern Industrial Electronics, said: “I’m a bit out numbered in our office with Rovers fans.

“If we don’t win then I think I could well be off sick on the Monday.

“If we win I will be giving them a lot of stick.”

Darren Wilds, 36, a Rovers fan from Fairham mouldings, said: “I think we will win 2-1, but the pressure is on us being at home.

“It’s a great duel but I just hope the match isn’t overshadowed by a minority who want to cause trouble.

“Even though we wind each other up, it’s just friendly banter.

“None of us want any trouble – we just want to enjoy the game.

“At Fairham Mouldings we have about half and half Rovers fans and Burnley fans.

“I hope Burnley stay up so we can carry on having a laugh about the scores.”
