After the disappointment at being dumped out of the FA Vase, manager Nigel Coates shuffled the pack for Colne’s visit to New Mills.
And he was more than delighted with his team’s performance.
After falling behind to an early goal on 10 minutes when Carlos Meakin’s shot flew into the net, Colne came back strongly and were back on level terms when Mark Threlfall’s shot was parried only for Peter Band to deflect in to his own net.
The second half began fast and furious with Higginbotham for New Mills and Bobby Harris for Colne both pulling off some excellent saves. As the game progressed Colne looked favourites to take the lead but were denied by Higginbotham.
