Nelson made it three wins in a row with a seven-goal thriller against Atherton LR.
The Blues took the lead after 28 minutes with a 30 yard free kick that Luke Hargreaves blasted into the net. Four minutes later, Nelson doubled their lead when Lance Ogunyode scored from close range following Martin Payne’s cross.
Five minutes into the second half, Alex Mugan was tripped in the visitors’ penalty area and Hargreaves converted the spot kick to put Nelson three in front. After 62 minutes, the Blues went four up when John Luker fired in.
Nelson were cruising but Atherton came back strongly and Bradley Cook pulled one back from the penalty spot after 78 minutes and, two minutes later, scored a second goal.
But Phil Heyworth’s goal on 89 minutes came too late.
