HAVING hit AFC Blackpool for seven on Tuesday night, Barnoldswick had to settle for a blank day in front of goal as they consolidated second spot in Vodkat League Division One.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the league newcomers in a match that was dominated by both defences.

Town had an early let off when a curling free kick went just wide.

Neil Chapman went close for Town but his shot on the stretch failed to trouble the keeper.

Neither keeper had any saves of note to make and Town defender Bill Williams produced an excellent tackle to halt a Norton forward in his tracks.

However, Norton did get through on the half hour but Billy Carrington made a fine save in the Town goal.

In the second half, Town upped their work rate and both fullbacks, Liam Blades and Shaun Clough started to get more into the game with raids down both flanks.

And Clough came closest to breaking the deadlock on 59 minutes when his well struck free kick crashed against the post but away to safety.
