IT MAY have lacked goals but there was no shortage of goalmouth action.
Both sides went for goals from the off and chances were created at both ends.
Matthew Hampson and Arran Walters had early efforts for Bacup but they had a let off on the half hour when Brian Matthews raced clear but the collective efforts of Davey Luker and Nick Hodson cleared the danger.
Manager Brent Peters made changes at the break and Bacup looked more fluent going forward while they nullified Flixton’s threat in the middle of the park.
Warren Collier fired just wide before a powerful effort from substitute Moses Costa Soares was too hot to handle for the Flixton keeper but Collier could only fire the loose ball straight back at the keeper.
Bacup piled on the pressure in the closing stages and Lee Stott played in Steve Smith whose shot on the turned went just wide.
Smith went even closer moments later, after good work from Collier, when he wrong footed Jamie Jowsey in the Flixton goal but the ball rolled agonisingly wide.
Bacup, up to fifth place in Vodkat League Premier Division, are now unbeaten in six games, having won four and drawn two.
