ROBBIE Blake has told his team-mates to put Saturday’s defeat at Spurs out of their minds and focus on maintaining Burnley’s perfect home record.

The Clarets’ 5-0 defeat at Spurs was the fourth on the spin on their Premier League travels.

But Blake has highlighted the need to steady the ship against his former club, Birmingham City, at Turf Moor this Saturday and maintain a fortress to build on for the rest of the campaign.

“A lot of people thought after beating Manchester United at home we’d fluff it against Everton, but we didn’t,” said the 33-year-old, who scored Burnley's first Premier League goal against United.

“We know home form is going to be key this season.

“The fans are brilliant for us, they get behind us and create a hostile atmosphere.

“Hopefully that can keep going until the end of the season.

“We’re good at home. We’ve got to keep that going, but it would be nice to start getting some points away.

"If we do that I'm pretty sure we can stay in this division,” added Blake.

But he is refusing to get hung up on four consecutive away defeats.

“But you've got to look at the games we’ve played. Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and Stoke away in the first game in the first game is one of the toughest fixtures you can have.

“We can’t be too downhearted about it. We've got to knuckle down and do the right things.

"Because for a little club like Burnley’s it's great to be mixing it with the best players and clubs in the word.

“We want to continue that.”

Nevertheless, Blake was disappointed to be on such a heavy defeat at White Hart Lane.

“It was frustrating for us because for large parts we were in the game,” he said.

“”We'd done well up to the (first) goal. We had a few chances and missed them.

“The manager let us know after the game we've got to be better away from home.

“It was the first time this season he was angry. We know it's going to be tough in this division, but we're up for the fight.
