IAN Blackman’s six wickets left Lancashire in a spin yesterday – but their LV County Championship clash with Durham remains firmly in the balance.
Responding to Durham’s first innings total of 270 at Old Trafford, only V V S Laxman (87) and Mal Loye (60) of the Lancashire top order made runs as the Red Rose slumped to 123-6.
But Kyle Hogg (42) and Laxman put on 84 before an unbroken last-wicket stand of 39 between Tom Lungley and Gary Keedy.
But the day was dominated by Blackwell – who claimed a season’s best tally of 6-85 – a day after Gary Keedy took six wickets for Lancashire.
Five of Blackwell’s wickets were lbw as Lancs reached 252-9 at stumps, just 18 runs behind Durham.
