ROVERS failed to make the most of their domination as they drew a blank in their triangular tournament opener in Split.
In the first of tonight's two 45 minute games, Rovers had the edge over Portuguese outfit Nacional but were guilty of squandered opportunities.
Benni McCarthy and Paul Gallagher both went close to earning Rovers the win in a game that saw new boys Lars Jacobsen and Steven NZonzi play.
Stephen Warnock missed the night's action after suffering a knock in the draw with Roma while goalkeeper Mark Bunn is absent with a bad back.
ROVERS: Jason Brown, Lars Jacobsen, Chris Samba, Zurab Khizanishvili, Martin Olsson, Alan Judge, Keith Andrews, Steven NZonzi, Keith Treacy, Benni McCarthy, Paul Gallagher
