BAXENDEN take their march towards the Ribblesdale League title to Edenfield tomorrow with eyes starting to be cast towards an invincible season.

The only time they have failed to win this season was when they had one game rained off and they now hold a 37-point advantage over the chasing pack.

But any thoughts of going through the campaign as unbeatables are very much on hold as the Back Lane outfit prefer to concentrate on sewing up their first Ribblesdale League crown for 16 years.

“We have won nothing yet and all we are thinking about is getting over the line,” said professional Babar Naeem, pictured.

“Yes, we are doing well and have a good advantage but that means nothing until we have won it.

“We probably need another five or six wins to be sure – and then we can perhaps start to think about going through the season unbeaten.

“That would be a terrific achievement but anything can happen and I think it is a tall order.”

While the title race has taken on the appearance of a one-horse procession, the battle for second is red hot with just seven points covering four clubs.

Read appeared to be favourites until a month-long stutter – but they won last week against Cherry Tree and are in third and face Whalley.

Padiham are in second and travel for their game with Settle, while Gary Hunt has seen his Ribblesdale Wanderers rise to third.

And with Aussie Jake Brown in form, they will fancy their chances of seeing off Barnoldswick.

Champions Great Harwood are in fifth after their shock loss at Barlick last week and will want to return to form when they face sixth-placed Oswaldtwistle at the Cliffe.

Earby are still in the hunt for a Lancashire Cup spot and face Clitheroe, while Cherry Tree entertain Blackburn Northern.
