PAUL Gallagher scored on the stroke of half-time at Bolano's picturesque Marco Druso stadium but Rovers still went into the break trailing a strong Roma side.
The striker coolly converted after Jason Roberts had drawn Brazilian keeper Artur out of position before pulling the ball back.
Roma took a two-goal lead after Steven NZonzi's mistake allowed Rodrigo Taddei to score, and John Arne Riise drove a freekick past Jason Brown.
Keith Andrews earlier had a goal disallowed.
