SERIE A football fans look set out to turn out in force for Blackburn Rovers friendly against AS Roma tonight – in the hope of witnessing the re-birth of a legend.

Former Italian international Christian Vieri could feature in Rovers second pre-season feature of the summer in Bolzano, Italy, bringing with him huge interest to the game.

Dariusz Jlkalehto, an Inter Milan fan, revealed he would be making the three-hour journey in the hope of seeing his former San Siro favourite in action, and claimed he knew scores more who would be making a similar journey.

At 36 years of age, Vieri’s glittering career looked all but over last season when he failed to make any impression at Atalanta.

But Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has handed him an unlikely chance to resurrect his career.

Jlaklehto, a 28 year-old Inter Milan fan, said: “I think most football fans were surprised to hear he was having a trial at Blackburn.

“If he could play then he would be a very good player for Blackburn.”
