TENNIS talents Charlie and George Hutchings may have some way to go to emulate Andy Murray but they are going about it the right way.

The brothers, who are both members of Blackburn Northern Tennis Club, were on the old stamping ground of Murray after taking part in two top tournaments in Scotland recently.

Charlie, 11, won the West of Scotland title when he beat Callum McGeoch in the final.

And eight-year-old George narrowly missed out on a Hutchings double after losing in a tie break in the final against Ewan Lumsden in his age group.

Charlie then moved on to take part in the Scottish Open — and found himself on GMTV!

“The Open was on the same time as Wimbledon so the cameras were there to show where Andy Murray played as a youngster and Charlie was practising at the time and was on TV,” said dad Jamie who is a full time tennis coach. “He did really well but was knocked out in the semi finals by a lad who is ranked in the top five in the country.”

But Charlie and George, who are pupils at St Mary’s Osbaldeston, are making great strides themselves.

George is currently ranked in the top 16 in the country and recently attended a National Talent ID day where he received coaching from Greg Rusedski (left).

And older brother Charlie is ranked in the top 30 in his age group but is set to rise further up the rankings following his success in Scotland.
