CHURCH suffered more semi-final agony as they missed out in the Lancashire’s League’s 20/20 showpiece following a defeat to Burnley on Friday night.
The beaten Worsley Cup semi-finalists went down by five wickets at West End to Burnley, who will now host Nelson in the final this coming Friday in their third 20/20.
It will be Burnley’s third time in the final - and Steve Brunt’s men go into it buoyed by their win over Phil Gilrane’s outfit.
Batting first, Church posted 114-6 from their 20 overs with Adam Greenwood top scoring with 32, while Levi Wolfenden (23) and Sagawat Hussain (22) got amongst the runs.
Jeeva Kulatunga hit 30 as Burnley replied and Qasim Ali made a rapid 31 but Daniel Pickup was the hero at the end as he made an unbeaten 32 to get his men home with a ball to spare.
