BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle plans to add Hamilton defender Brian Easton to his squad before jetting out for the club’s pre-season tour of America on Thursday.

The Clarets boss gave run-outs to new trio Steven Fletcher, David Edgar and Tyrone Mears in Saturday’s first friendly at Bradford City, which ended in a 2-1 defeat despite taking the lead through Graham Alexander.

And Easton could be the fourth summer arrival as Coyle steps up his bid to sign the 21-year-old left back from Scottish Premier League side Hamilton.

The Scotland U21 international is believed to be undergoing a medical at Turf Moor in the next 48 hours with a fee between the two clubs close to being agreed.

Hamilton last week turned down an offer of £300,000.

It is understood that the Clarets have again made the same offer up front, but with incentive-based add-ons.

Easton’s agent, Willie McKay, said: “He will probably travel down to Burnley on Monday and I would expect him to travel with Burnley to Los Angeles on Thursday.”

And Coyle is keen to add the left-back to his squad before the tour.

“We’ll still look to add a few into the mix. Again we’ll have to make sure they’re the right type and they complement what we’ve got and they come within our means,” said the Burnley boss.

“There’s nothing concrete yet. Whether anything comes to fruition before we go to the States that remains to be seen, but we’re certainly trying. We'll probably know better at the start, the middle or the end of the week.”
