ROBBIE Blake was last night voted Burnley’s official player of the year after a majestic season at Turf Moor.

The enigmatic 33-year-old striker led a strong five-man shortlist to scoop the ultimate award at the star-studded bash.

And Blake came out on top – beating fellow candidates Brian Jensen, Graham Alexander, Wade Elliott and Martin Paterson – to take the gong.

The Middlesbrough-born ace has rolled back the years to enjoy a season to remember with the Clarets.

His performances have lit up the Championship, while his nine goals have played their part in taking Owen Coyle’s men to the brink of the play-offs.

One of his finest displays came in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham at Turf Moor.

He opened the scoring against Spurs before providing two more goals to take a memorable tie to extra-time, until the Londoners snatched their final berth in the dying moments.

Blake will now look to provide a big spark on Sunday as Burnley look to clinch their play-off place against Bristol City.
