BOBBY Mimms insists former team-mate Alan Shearer will pull no punches in his bid to save Newcastle United from Premier League relegation.
Blackburn Rovers’ goalkeeping coach, who played at Ewood with Shearer in the 1990s, admits the Magpies’ new temporary boss has always spoken his mind - and doesn’t expect that to change now.
He said: “Alan led from the front when he was at Blackburn. He was never afraid to speak his mind from day one and he has gained a lot of knowledge since then.
“Without a doubt he will say what he feels. He has only been appointed short term so why would he care who he upsets?
“He is a Newcastle fan through and through and has probably been as upset as anyone about what was happening at his club.
“Maybe he can vent his feelings now.
“Rovers don’t have to worry about it though, what happens to us is down to us.
“If we win enough games we will stay up, it is as simple as that.”
