ADE Akinbiyi was today expected to complete his move to American Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo.
After agreeing personal terms and undergoing a routine medical at the Texan club, the 34-year-old was set to return to Burnley to finalise his Turf Moor exit.
With his contract due to expire in the summer, it is expected the remainder of his deal will be bought out by Akinbiyi himself, leaving him free to sign for Houston immediately.
The former Leicester City, Stoke and Sheffield United striker could make his debut against DC United, in Washington, as early as Saturday. And Houston head coach Dominic Kinnear was delighted to have Akinbiyi on board.
“We felt that, looking at his résumé and what he’s done the last couple of years, that he can be a very important part of our team,” he said. “He brings pace, power and strength.”
