DAVID Dunn is prepared to put up with the pain as he bids to ensure his beloved Rovers are not involved in a tense Premier League finale.

Rovers’ vice-skipper made a surprise return from injury in Saturday’s frustrating 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough but admits his Achilles woes are far from over.

Dunn, who came on for the injured Brett Emerton on 50 minutes, insists his continuing pain is no cause for major worry as he does his bit to help stave off relegation.

The midfielder has missed most of the season after undergoing surgery on his Achilles and, after a brief return, has again been sidelined in recent weeks.

Dunn now reveals there has been a reaction to the operation, which will continue to trouble him in the months ahead, but insists it will not stop him doing his bit to preserve Rovers’ Premier League status.

He said: “I had a little bit of a setback on the operation I had on the Achilles the other month.

"It just flares up now and again and is pretty painful to play.

“Earlier in the week I wouldn’t have thought I was anywhere near to getting a run out so it is 100 per cent than it was at the start of the week.

“It is a reaction to the operation, so I am going to have to put up with it for a while.

"There might be a few times when I am in and out but long term nothing to worry about.”
