Blackburn Rovers quartet Eddie Nolan, Alan Judge, Keith Treacy and Josh O’Keefe, along with Accrington Stanley’s Jimmy Ryan, have all been named in Don Givens’ Republic of Ireland U21 squad.
They will play Austria later this month.
Rovers midfielder O’Keefe has spoken of his delight at being called up.
“I qualify because my grandparents on my fathers side are from Ireland,” said the Whalley-born midfielder.
“It was still a surprise to be called up, but it is something I’m really looking forward to.”
