BLACKBURN Rovers fans will be seeing double next season after teenager Julio Santa Cruz – younger brother of star striker Roque – joined Blackburn’s ranks today.

The 18-year-old centre forward has moved from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno on a three-year deal.

Rovers are now awaiting international clearance for Julio, who is expected to be a member of the club’s reserve side this season.

“I am very happy to be here at Blackburn, it will be an amazing adventure for me,” said Santa Cruz, after signing his first professional contract.

Rovers chairman John Williams said: “Julio came to the club last year under the old regime.

“We brought him back and he’s done well enough again for us to sign him.

“Yes, he’s Roque’s brother, but he’s done well enough in his own right to earn a contract with us.”
