Accrington Stanley Women stormed into the next round of the Lancashire FA Women's Challenge Cup with an emphatic 11-0 victory over Chorley FC Women on Sunday afternoon.
Eight different players were on the scoresheet for Brigan Young's side, with Sanah Mehdi netting a hat-trick and Mich Ryan scoring twice, while Ebony Wilkinson, Ava Schofield, Erin Lavelle, Ellie Parker, Alex Latham and Melissa Adamson also found the back of the net.
It was another dominant team performance from the Reds, who were in control throughout, while there was also a special moment for youngster Erin Hesketh as she made her first-team debut.
Stanley Women made an energetic start to the contest and immediately looked to put the Chorley defence under pressure, but the hosts stood firm during the opening exchanges.
The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 17th minute, when captain Mehdi found the back of the net to give Stanley Women a deserved lead.
It didn't take the visitors long to double their advantage, and the second goal came from an unlikely source.
Defender Wilkinson embarked on a brilliant solo run from the back before showing great composure to calmly finish past the Chorley goalkeeper and make it 2-0.
Stanley Women continued to push forward, and Schofield was next to get in on the scoring action, finding the net after being picked out by Lavelle.
Having turned provider for the third, player of the match Lavelle then got her own name on the scoresheet with an excellent finish.
A Stanley Women corner was only partially cleared by the Chorley defence and the ball fell kindly to Lavelle on the edge of the area, who struck a superb effort into the bottom corner to give the Reds a commanding 4-0 lead at half-time.
Head Coach Young made three changes at the interval, including handing a first-team debut to youngster Hesketh, but the substitutions did little to disrupt Stanley's attacking rhythm.
Just five minutes after the restart, the visitors extended their lead further following some excellent work from Schofield.
The striker produced a fantastic run before delivering a dangerous cross into the area, where Mehdi was perfectly placed to tap home her second of the afternoon.
Stanley Women were showing no signs of slowing down and Mehdi soon completed her hat-trick, reacting quickest after another Schofield cross was parried into her path by the Chorley goalkeeper.
The goals continued to flow, and Parker was next to find the net, scoring for the second successive weekend to make it 7-0.
Despite their comfortable advantage, Stanley Women continued to press forward and create opportunities, although Chorley managed to keep the visitors at bay for a spell midway through the second half.
The resistance was eventually broken with 15 minutes remaining, when Ryan got in on the scoring action to extend Stanley's lead to eight.
Just two minutes later, it was 9-0 as defender Latham rose to meet an excellent delivery from Katie Taylor, powering her header beyond the Chorley goalkeeper.
Stanley Women weren't finished there, and Ryan turned provider for the tenth goal, delivering a dangerous cross into the area for Adamson to tap home from close range.
There was still time for one final goal as Gracie Driscoll delivered an excellent corner into the box, which was met by Ryan, who powered a header beyond the Chorley goalkeeper to complete her brace and round off a superb 11-0 victory for the Reds.
Speaking after the game, Head Coach Brigan Young, said: “It was a great display from the whole team, and I'm really pleased with the performance. We played some excellent football, were clinical in front of goal and showed a fantastic attitude throughout. It's another really positive result for us and we're looking forward to the next round.”
Player of the match, Erin Lavelle, said: “It was a fantastic team performance from everyone. To score so many goals, keep a clean sheet and book our place in the next round is a brilliant feeling. On a personal note, I'm really pleased to have got on the scoresheet and being named player of the match makes it even more special.”
Stanley Women now have a weekend off before returning to action on Sunday November 1, when they host Wirral United FC Women in the League Cup at Accrington & Rossendale College.
