Blackburn Rovers' injury issues have eased in recent weeks but there remain a few players on the sidelines.

Tony Mowbray is still without eight of his first-team group, with the hope that some of those can be recovered during the international break.

Others have been out for long periods and will need time to build up their fitness. They will be eased back, with the main priority being ensuring there are no setbacks.

Lancashire Telegraph delivers a comprehensive round-up from the treatment room, including potential return dates.

Yuki Ohashi - Hamstring

The Japanese forward has spent just less than a month on the sidelines after pulling up in the early exchanges of Rovers' Carabao Cup tie with Sheffield United.

He was ruled out for 'several weeks' with a hamstring injury. The last update suggested it may be towards the end of October that he is available for selection.

"I don't think they'll be fit after the international break; it will be a little bit longer than that," Mowbray said on September 10, updating on Ohashi and fellow striker Mathias Jorgensen.

"I hope they're fast heelers. Sometimes that has happened in my career. Let's hope they're good heelers."

Mathias Jorgensen - Hamstring

Like Ohashi, Jorgensen's hamstring is being treated in what has been a repeat issue for him.

The striker first picked up the injury during Rovers' pre-season trip to Portugal. That saw him sidelined for a month, making his comeback as a substitute against Middlesbrough.

That comeback was unsuccessful and he remains on the sidelines, having played just 29 minutes this season.

Matty Litherland - Back

Litherland's injury has been a rather innocuous one, having gone off against Strasbourg in Portugal with a 'knock'.

That has turned into a two-month absence. He is expected to return to full training during the international break and will be one of the players likely to feature in the arranged behind-closed-doors friendly.

"He has been out on the grass," Mowbray said.

"I think during the international break, we will try to arrange a match (said early September). I hope there will be a game during this period for the likes of Dion and Matty to play.

"I hope this game can help players get some minutes and be ready for when we come back."

Yuri Ribeiro - Hamstring

There's a common theme here, isn't there? Yep, it's another hamstring injury which will keep Ribeiro on the sidelines into late October.

The defender limped off after 16 minutes against Millwall last weekend and won't be fit for a few weeks.

"I don't know the exact timeframe," Mowbray said on September 17.

"He definitely won't be involved this weekend and obviously there's a three-week break, so some stage after that, hopefully, he won't be too far away."

Adam Forshaw - Hip

Forshaw has missed the last two matches with a hip problem which requires a consultant appointment.

The midfielder's issue is a small cause of concern, with Mowbray tight-lipped on the potential severity.

"Forshaw is still an issue for us with his hip," Mowbray explained.

"I think he's got some consultation coming up and we'll let you know on that but at this point he won't be available for us in the short term anyway.

"It's a bit of a concern but I don't want to speculate sitting here today, so let's talk about it another day, I think."

Scott Wharton - Unknown

Wharton's injury issues are threatening to eat into his season yet again. A thigh injury sustained in pre-season means he hasn't played this term yet.

He has been back in training for several weeks and was due to get some minutes for the Under-21s on Saturday. But he felt 'something' in last Wednesday's training session and so wasn't risked.

We don't know whether that was a minor niggle or something more severe. If it's a little knock, he could play in the BCD fixture.

"The plan was he was going to travel with the Under-21s to play Crystal Palace on Saturday," Mowbray said last week.

"He felt a little something in training yesterday and came off a little bit early, so we won't be sending him.

"If he's got any doubts or any slight strains, he won't be thrown into a football match.

"He was so close, as I said in training yesterday with the intention that he was going to go and play against Palace but if he's feeling something, then it's best that we get him 100% right in his mind that when he's ready to play, he'll be ready to play."

Augustus Kargbo - Hamstring

Kargbo is approaching a full year without playing competitively for Rovers. He initially tore his squad and then had a setback on his return with the U21s, ending his season.

In pre-season, he sustained a hamstring issue. Throughout his Rovers career, muscle injuries have been a problem.

Mowbray was hopeful he'd be back in training during the international break but he'll obviously need time to get match fit.

"Maybe after this international break, because it's a three-week international break," he said.

"He will definitely be back on the grass; he will definitely be training with the group."

Lewis Miller - Achilles

Miller remains Rovers' long-term absentee. The hope is that he will be back training around Christmas, though will obviously need plenty of time after such a serious injury.
