Hayden Carter hopes Blackburn Rovers can kickstart a winning run as he returns to former club Portsmouth on Saturday.
The defender enjoyed a successful loan spell at Fratton Park in 2021/22 and scored against his ex-club last time the two met at Ewood Park.
Off the back of his first Championship start since March, the 26-year-old is hoping victory against Millwall is the start of a positive run for Rovers.
"It's been a while since I played a full game in the Championship," Carter told RoversTV.
"It was March, at Millwall away, which was my last appearance. It was good to be back, and I hope to continue that moving forward.
"It's been a good, positive week. Everyone is in high spirits after the result and the performance on Saturday.
"Winning breeds confidence. Now we've got that one the other day. Obviously, it's the first win since Boro.
"Hopefully, that can be the start of a run, starting this weekend at Portsmouth."
Carter has fond memories of his time at Pompey, who played a key role in his development. After starting practically every game for them over his six-month stint, he came back to Rovers and earned a starting spot under Jon Dahl Tomasson.
"I had a good loan spell there and it's a great club," he said.
"But, hopefully, we can go there this weekend and get three points It's a very tough place for opposing teams to go to, because the fan base down there is brilliant for them.
"It's a tough place, but, as we said earlier, the confidence we've got from Saturday, hopefully we can take that into the game.
"Obviously it's a longer break this time, so it'll be good to go in with another win.
"Having the three weeks without a game on the back of a win will make it a whole lot better and will make us look forward more to get back into it and to try and keep a run going."
