Preston North End had a busy end to the transfer window with the double signing of Johnny Kenny and Liam Gibbs.
Striker Kenny joins on a permanent deal from Celtic. He has penned a four-year deal at Deepdale and arrives for a reported £3million fee.
The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, scoring six goals before his campaign was cut short by a knee injury.
"He is a player who likes to play on the last line and make runs in behind; he is a sharp player,” PNE boss Paul Heckingbottom told the club site.
"He is lively in the box and will look to get shots off, left foot, right foot. He works hard for the team.
“We need to do a lot of work with him tactically in terms of how we are going to use him but that is the exciting bit now."
North End also brought in midfielder Gibbs on a season-long loan from fellow Championship side Norwich City.
The 23-year-old has more than 100 appearances to his name for the Canaries over the past five seasons.
"He is a young boy but has a lot of experience in this league,” Heckingbottom added. "He is a good athlete and a technical player.
“He has been used in a number of positions at Norwich but I see him as a central midfielder. He has got know-how, experience in the league and has shown real quality over the past few years."
North End were beaten 3-1 by Bristol City on Tuesday night despite Caleb Wiley’s first goal for the club.
Heckingbottom’s side have lost all four of their opening league games and find themselves at the foot of the table.
“It is always about results. You have heard me say over and over again that it’s determined in both boxes and there is a great example of that today,” he said.
“We created a lot of chances and didn’t take them, and they did. Simple. I felt we should have been in front at half time.”
