The transfer window might have shut but clubs can still add free agents to their respective squads – and Tony Mowbray has not ruled it out at Rovers.
Mowbray ended up with one new addition to his squad on deadline day when at one stage he was hoping it might be as many as four.
The head coach believes it is important to have experience in the squad but insists they must have the right balance.
“I think you always consider good footballers really,” he said. “Free agents might be 33, 34, 35-year-olds. Morsy and Forshaw show you on nights like tonight how important they are.
“But you do need some dynamic footballers, you do need skilful footballers, you do need fast footballers.
“The best football teams are made up of the mix of them all really, so let's look and see what is out there.”
Mowbray admitted there were mixed emotions following the goalless draw against the Imps on Tuesday night.
The boss had been hoping to return to the North West with all three points but admitted there was some relief not to lose after playing the final 25 minutes with 10 men.
“Ultimately, we are disappointed not to - with total respect to Lincoln - come to Lincoln and get three points,” he reflected.
“They are a really well-organised team and have got major threats, which obviously we knew about.
“I watched them live against Middlesbrough on the opening day and thought they were really good. But still, I would expect to come and win so we are disappointed ultimately to take a point.
“The way the game went with 10 men for 25 minutes, I think the maturity of the team was good in that last 25 minutes.
“It felt like some men out there making good decisions, being in the right position, knowing when to pick a pass, when to clear the ball and when to make first contact.”
Mowbray still felt there were positives to take from the performance ahead of another away game at local rivals Preston North End this weekend.
“Lots of positives for us, just a bit frustrated because I felt at the start of the second half we started to open them up a little bit,” he continued.
“We got behind them a few times at the start of the second half but didn't quite finish it. My hope would have been the longer the game went, the more openings there might have been for us.
“But that said, we will take the point. It is a tough place to come. I think lots of teams are going to find it really tough here, unless they can score first.
“But alright, just left a bit frustrated but also relieved at the end that we got through that last 20-odd minutes.
“It is difficult once they put the big guy on and realise they could let more men get around him, it becomes more difficult.
“We needed people to block some shots and make some first contacts. So that's how I feel - a bit of a mixture. A bit of disappointment but a bit of relief at the end after the way the game finished.”
