Lancaster-born footballer Scott McTominay is set to undergo a minor surgical procedure after Napoli revealed he has developed a "mild benign arrhythmia".
The Serie A champions shared an update on the Scotland international in a statement released today.
It comes after McTominay was substituted after 56 minutes during Napoli's defeat to Como on Sunday.
Napoli said: "Due to the onset of a mild benign arrhythmia, Scott McTominay will undergo PFA surgery in the next few days. He will be available again after the international break."
The 29-year-old midfielder, who was born in Lancaster before joining Manchester United's academy, later reassured supporters with a message on Instagram.
He wrote: "See you soon Napoli. I won't take long," alongside a blue heart emoji.
An arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat, with Napoli describing McTominay's condition as mild and benign.

The former Manchester United midfielder is expected to return to action following the international break, according to the Italian club.
McTominay enjoyed a hugely successful first season in Italy after joining Napoli from United, helping the Naples side secure the Serie A title and becoming a firm favourite among supporters, as he was named the league's MVP.
Napoli's statement will come as a relief to fans after the club indicated the issue is not considered serious and that the Scotland international is expected back within weeks.
